The Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities Ghana (VCTU-G) have organised a capacity-building workshop for senior non-teaching staff of Takoradi Technical University as part of efforts to strengthen governance and administrative efficiency across technical universities in Ghana.

The one-day training forms part of a rotational programme under VCTU-G’s broader initiative to enhance professionalism, accountability, and operational excellence within the country’s technical university system.

Opening the workshop, TTU Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, described the initiative as timely, noting that capacity building is a key pillar of VCTU-G’s 2026–2030 strategic plan.

He explained that the programme is a deliberate investment in human capacity and has already recorded positive feedback from earlier phases conducted in other zones.

Participants were taken through various topics including university governance, public financial management, administrative writing, and institutional communication.

Speakers such as former Ho Technical University Registrar, Dr. Christopher Kwasi Amehoe, and TTU Registrar, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory, emphasised the importance of professionalism, policy implementation, and strong administrative skills in improving university operations.

The programme also highlighted ethical standards in documentation, financial management, and communication, with facilitators urging administrators to avoid plagiarism, misuse of information, and poor reporting practices.

The VCTU-G training initiative is expected to continue across other technical universities as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and improve institutional performance in Ghana’s tertiary education sector.
