URNMA demands payment of 2023 rotational nurses and midwives’ allowances
The Unpaid Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association (URNMA) has called on government to urgently settle outstanding allowances owed to the 2023 referral batch of rotational nurses and midwives across Ghana.

In a press statement issued on June 1, 2026, the group said its members have worked for 12 months in various health facilities nationwide but are yet to receive their statutory NSS and rotation allowances.

The association, which addressed its concerns to the Ministry of Health Ghana and Ministry of Finance Ghana, described the delay as unacceptable, noting that it has placed members under severe financial hardship, affecting their basic living conditions.

URNMA expressed concern that while the 2024 batch has reportedly been paid, the 2023 cohort remains outstanding, describing the situation as unfair and demoralising.

The group has therefore demanded that all outstanding allowances be paid by June 15, 2026, warning that failure to meet the deadline will lead to peaceful demonstrations and other industrial actions.

They stressed that although they do not intend to disrupt healthcare delivery, they will be forced to act if their entitlements continue to be delayed.
