Ghana has signed a bilateral agreement with Jamaica to deploy about 400 Ghanaian nurses to the Caribbean nation to support healthcare delivery and strengthen cooperation between both countries.
The agreement was announced by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa following the revival of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC), which had been inactive for 21 years.
According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, the deal forms part of broader agreements reached between the two countries, including defence cooperation, tourism development, and plans to deploy Ghanaian teachers to Jamaica in the coming months.
He noted that the partnership reflects the growing global demand for Ghanaian professionals and strengthens historical and cultural ties between Ghana and Jamaica.
The agreement also builds on recent diplomatic engagement between the two countries, with both sides expressing commitment to deepening collaboration in key sectors for mutual development.
