The University of Ghana (UG) has sanctioned several students for various forms of examination malpractice in accordance with institutional regulations and a policy requiring disciplinary decisions to be made public.

According to a notice issued by the Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, the affected students were found guilty of offences involving the possession and use of unauthorised materials during examinations, contrary to the university’s examination rules.

Among the sanctioned students was a Level 100 female student who was awarded a fail in her entire first-semester examinations after she was found in possession of unauthorised handwritten notes during an examination.

The University also identified Abun Danielle Kyauta, who was found guilty of possessing written notes and copying from them during the ECON 311: Microeconomics examination, in violation of Regulations 10.5 and 11.2 of the institution’s examination regulations.

Another student, Wesley Shem Tei, was also sanctioned for similar misconduct during the SENG 301: Numerical Methods examination.

Both students were awarded Grade Z for the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Under the university’s grading system, Grade Z represents failure in all examinations taken during an entire semester, while Grade X applies to failure in a specific course.

The University reminded students to adhere strictly to examination rules and maintain the standards of integrity expected within the academic community.

Management also indicated that students affected by the sanctions who may require emotional or psychological support could seek assistance from the University of Ghana Careers and Counselling Directorate.
