The Electoral Commission of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, has officially announced the commencement of campaign activities for the upcoming SRC, JCR and departmental elections.
According to the Commission, the campaign period begins on May 20, 2026, in line with Article 11 of the UMaT SRC Constitution and the University’s Guidelines on Political Activities.
It stressed that while campaigning is now permitted, it does not confirm final approval of candidates, as all aspirants are still required to complete the vetting process.
The Commission urged all candidates and campaign teams to conduct their activities peacefully, responsibly and in line with university values, while focusing on issue-based campaigning.
It also reminded aspirants that UMaT’s logo and letterhead must not be used on any campaign materials, in accordance with university regulations.
The Electoral Commission further directed that all campaign activities must end 24 hours before election day and warned that violations of electoral rules will attract sanctions.
