Enactus KNUST has launched a student-led sustainability initiative aimed at reducing plastic pollution on campus through an innovative project known as Reviva.
The initiative, introduced through a campus clean-up exercise, involved students collecting plastic waste and promoting responsible disposal practices among the university community.
Founded by a third-year Environmental Science student, Lordina Lisa Osei, Reviva transforms discarded plastics into useful products such as tote bags, laptop pouches, pencil cases, and toothbrushes.
She explained that the project is driven by her passion for environmental sustainability and aims to change perceptions that waste materials have no value, while also making student essentials more affordable and accessible.
According to her, the idea is to reduce plastic pollution while demonstrating that upcycled materials can be turned into functional and attractive products.
President of Enactus KNUST, Ike Asamoah-Ansah, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to using entrepreneurship to solve real-world challenges.
He noted that Reviva is more than a clean-up exercise but a growing movement that encourages students to see waste as an opportunity for innovation and environmental impact.
Enactus KNUST says it will continue to support projects that promote sustainability, reduce unemployment, and drive positive change within and beyond the university community.
