Professor Eric Kwasi Ofori Named Vice-Chancellor of Garden City University
Professor Eric Kwasi Ofori, an alumnus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Garden City University, marking another milestone in his distinguished academic and professional career.

A specialist in medical imaging and higher education administration, Professor Ofori graduated from KNUST in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering before furthering his education in the United Kingdom and Japan. He later obtained an MPhil in Radiography from City University London and a PhD in Health Sciences (Radiography) from the University of Liverpool.

Born in Kyebi in the Eastern Region, Professor Ofori began his education at Kyebi Methodist Primary School and Kyebi Experimental Junior High School before attending Suhum Secondary Technical School, now Suhum Senior High School.

Over the years, he has served in several academic and leadership positions across Ghana’s tertiary education sector. His career has spanned institutions including the University of Ghana, the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

At UHAS, he rose from Associate Professor of Medical Imaging to full professor and served as Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences for six years. He also acted as Pro-Vice Chancellor on several occasions and later became Head of the Imaging Technology and Sonography Department at UCC.

Professor Ofori has contributed extensively to teaching, research, and academic mentorship, supervising postgraduate and undergraduate students while publishing more than 40 scholarly articles in medical imaging and radiography.

His research interests include radiation protection, quality assurance in diagnostic imaging, radiography education, medical imaging instrumentation, and women’s health.

Beyond academia, he has played active roles in university governance and professional advocacy, serving as National Vice-President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and participating in several educational and professional bodies in Ghana.

He currently serves as an external assessor for the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and as a member of the Appointments and Promotions Board of Ho Technical University.
