KNUST Dismisses Claims of Political Interference in Vice-Chancellor Selection Process
The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has dismissed reports alleging that the university’s ongoing Vice-Chancellor selection process has been halted due to political interference, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a press release dated May 8, 2026, the university stated that the publication circulating on some media platforms does not reflect the true state of affairs regarding the appointment process.

According to Management, the search for a new Vice-Chancellor, being conducted by the University Council Search Committee, is progressing smoothly and professionally in line with the university’s statutes and established procedures.

KNUST further rejected claims of external influence, stressing that there has been no attempt by any individual or group to manipulate, compromise, or interfere with the credibility of the process.

The university reaffirmed the commitment of the University Council to maintaining transparency, fairness, credibility, and institutional integrity throughout the exercise, while urging students, staff, alumni, stakeholders, the media, and the public to disregard what it described as misleading reports.

Management also assured the public that an official announcement regarding the outcome of the Vice-Chancellor selection process will be made after the completion of the committee’s work.
