The Hohoe Campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (University of Health and Allied Sciences) has engaged students of the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health on ongoing development plans, including the operationalization of the Fodome Site.
The April 1, 2026 engagement provided a platform for management, stakeholders, and students to discuss key infrastructure projects aimed at improving teaching, learning, and student welfare on campus.
A major focus of the meeting was the proposed construction of a 350-seater lecture hall, to be funded by GETFund, with students given the opportunity to share views on its most suitable location.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Lydia Aziato stressed the importance of student participation in decision-making, noting that their input is critical in ensuring that infrastructure projects meet real academic needs.
She further announced that shuttle services would be introduced to support student transportation between Hohoe and the Fodome Site once operations are fully rolled out.
The Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Prosper Kumi, reaffirmed government’s commitment to the development of the campus, disclosing plans for a modern regional hospital, improved road networks, and enhanced ICT infrastructure, including better internet connectivity and lecture hall support systems.
The Registrar of UHAS, Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, assured students of management’s commitment to addressing challenges while ensuring smooth expansion of the campus, recalling the university’s gradual growth from its earlier stages at the Ho Teaching Hospital.
Traditional leaders from the Gbi and Fodome communities also pledged their continuous support for the university’s development, reinforcing collaboration between the institution and host communities.
The engagement ended with a shared commitment from all parties to strengthen dialogue and accelerate the growth of the Hohoe Campus into a fully functional academic hub.
