Infrastructure at St. Augustine’s College is gradually deteriorating as a result of sea erosion, raising concerns about the long-term safety of facilities on the campus. The development has been attributed to the school’s proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, which continues to erode portions of the surrounding land.
Headmaster Patrick Appiah revealed that the advancing sea is steadily eating away sections of the coastline near the school, posing a growing threat to parts of the institution’s infrastructure. According to him, if urgent steps are not taken to address the situation, some buildings and facilities could eventually be affected.
The situation highlights the broader impact of coastal erosion along parts of Ghana’s shoreline, particularly in coastal communities such as Cape Coast. School authorities are therefore calling for attention and possible interventions to protect the campus and safeguard its infrastructure from further damage.
