Officials from Parul University in India paid a courtesy visit to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, to deepen collaboration between the two institutions. This visit follows the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on August 18, 2025, aimed at promoting faculty and student exchanges, joint curriculum development, and practical training opportunities across various academic programs.
Vice Chancellor Professor Lydia Aziato warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for their visit. She explained that while the agreements were primarily designed for the Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (UHAS-ITAM), other schools, including Medicine, Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, and Nursing, could also benefit from collaboration due to their specialized programs. Professor Aziato emphasized the importance of holistic training and international exposure for both faculty and students.
The Parul University delegation, led by Director of International Affairs Mr. Vandit Anjaria, described the partnership with UHAS as the first of its kind in Africa. Mr. Anjaria highlighted the universityโs goal of giving students from Ghana and other countries practical learning experiences at Parul University. Assistant Director Professor Ankitkumar Brahmbheih, who resides in Ghana, added that the university hopes to operationalize student and faculty exchange programs and develop shared curricula to strengthen both institutions.
Ghana Country Representative Mr. Bernard Quarm commended UHAS for its dedication to implementing the agreements, while UHAS Registrar Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni stressed that knowledge exchange should go beyond borders and that both institutions should work closely to ensure meaningful collaboration.
Parul University, a multidisciplinary private university in India with over 65,000 students, has operated in Ghana since 2016. This partnership positions UHAS to expand its programs in traditional and alternative medicine, enhance cultural exchange, and provide students and staff with greater international opportunities. Both universities hope that this collaboration will open doors for practical learning, global exposure, and the sharing of knowledge between Ghana and India.
