KNUST Advises Staff and Students to Avoid Travel to South Africa
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has advised members of its community to avoid travelling to South Africa until further notice due to recent demonstrations targeting foreign nationals in parts of the country.

In a notice issued by the University's Management, KNUST said it has been closely monitoring the situation in South Africa, where protests have reportedly disrupted public life, damaged property, and, in some cases, resulted in violence, raising concerns about the safety of foreign nationals.

As a precautionary measure, the University has urged all staff and students to defer any planned trips to South Africa, whether for official duties or personal reasons.

Management has also directed all responsible officers to suspend the approval of official travel to South Africa until further notice.

For members of the KNUST community currently in South Africa, the University has advised them to exercise extreme caution, avoid demonstration sites and large public gatherings, follow the guidance of local authorities and the Ghanaian diplomatic mission, and maintain regular contact with the University.

KNUST further stated that staff and students in South Africa who require emergency assistance may contact the University through 0322499897 or via [email protected].

The advisory will remain in effect until Management issues further updates on the security situation.
