The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has launched the UGBS Scholars’ Scholarship Scheme and unveiled new student and staff facilities during its 46th Management Day celebration held on 24th June 2026 under the theme, “Developing Talent for a Digital and Sustainable Future: HR Strategies for Ghana and Beyond.”
Speaking at the event, the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Ernest Yaw Tweneboah-Koduah, announced that the scholarship scheme will initially provide GH¢5,000 annually to 20 Level 200 students, with plans to expand the programme to benefit 60 students in the coming years. The initiative is funded through the School’s internally generated funds and is designed to support academically brilliant but financially challenged students.
The event also saw the commissioning of a new Student Experience Space and a Senior Members’ Lounge by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, who officially launched the scholarship scheme and the new facilities.
Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah highlighted several achievements of the School over the past year, including progress on infrastructure projects, research collaborations, international partnerships, digital transformation initiatives, and a 42% increase in graduate student enrolment. He also revealed that Phase Two of the UGBS Graduate Building is about 80% complete and expected to be commissioned in September 2026.
Addressing participants, Prof. Amfo reaffirmed the University’s commitment to developing future-ready leaders capable of driving innovation and sustainable development. She urged students to embrace lifelong learning, strengthen their digital competencies, and develop critical thinking, creativity, ethical leadership, and adaptability to thrive in an evolving global economy.
The event featured keynote presentations on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and talent development, as well as the presentation of awards to the 1984 and 1985 UGBS alumni year groups in recognition of their continued support to the School.
