Three students from the Department of Textiles and Fashion Education at University of Education, Winneba have showcased their original fabric designs at the “Ink and Identity” Intercontinental Colloquium on Identity, Heritage and Unity held at the University of Pretoria.

The students — Inkoom Agyiri Charles, Flavia Mansa Ganyo and Beatrice Appiah — presented textile designs inspired by traditional Adinkra symbols and Ghanaian cultural motifs, reinterpreting them into contemporary fabric patterns.

Their works were exhibited alongside designs from students and researchers from institutions across Africa and Europe, providing a platform for cultural exchange and creative collaboration.

The event also featured a presentation by Osuanyi Quaicoo Essel, who delivered a paper on Ghanaian hair beauty culture and visual symbolism as part of discussions on identity, heritage and unity.

The participation of the students and faculty member highlighted UEW’s growing contribution to international conversations on art, culture and design, while promoting Ghanaian heritage on a global stage.
