Foreign Ministry Dismisses Fake Notice on Alleged Expulsion of Ghanaians from Cambodia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed as false a widely circulated notice claiming that Ghanaian and other African nationals have been ordered to leave Cambodia by May 31, 2026.

In a press statement issued on May 29, 2026, the Ministry explained that the alleged directive was not issued by any official authority in Cambodia and should therefore be ignored by the public.

According to the Ministry, diplomatic engagements with Cambodian authorities confirmed that the notice is fake. This position has also been reinforced by a clarification from the General Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which described the information as “completely untrue.”

The Ministry cautioned the public and media outlets to rely only on verified official sources and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports capable of causing panic among affected persons and their families.

It further disclosed that prior to the emergence of the fake notice, some Ghanaian nationals in Cambodia had already expressed interest in returning home. In response, the Government of Ghana, through its High Commission in Malaysia, has been assisting affected citizens.

According to the Ministry, 85 Ghanaians have been successfully evacuated between March and May 2026, while arrangements are ongoing to facilitate the return of an additional 76 nationals who have requested assistance.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Ghanaian citizens abroad and assured continued cooperation with Cambodian authorities to ensure their safety and welfare.
