UDS Journalism Head Dr. Seth Mahama Sayibu Passes Away
The academic and media community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Dr. Seth Mahama Sayibu, Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies under the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at the Nyankpala Campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS).

Dr. Sayibu was widely recognised for his contributions to journalism education and media development in Ghana. Beyond academia, he also served as a former Joy FM correspondent for the Northern Region and was known for his dedication to mentoring students and contributing to public discourse.

According to information released, the unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, with his passing described as a major loss to the university and media fraternity.

Burial arrangements, in line with Islamic tradition, are scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026. Janaza prayers will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Tamale Teaching Hospital Mortuary before his body is conveyed to the Zujung Cemetery for burial.
