The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has recorded an impressive performance in the 2026 SCImago Institutions Rankings, strengthening its reputation as one of Ghana’s leading tertiary institutions.
In the latest rankings, UENR placed 7th in Ghana and 137th in Africa overall, reflecting its growing academic and research influence on the continent.
The university also performed strongly across key assessment areas, ranking 5th in Ghana for Research and Innovation, and 7th in Ghana for Social Impact.
The SCImago rankings assess institutions based on research output, innovation performance and societal impact, with UENR excelling particularly in research, where it ranked 97th in Africa.
According to the breakdown, the institution continues to make significant contributions in scientific publications, technological development and community engagement, especially in the fields of energy, natural resources and environmental sciences.
The university described the achievement as a reflection of its commitment to advancing sustainable development through research and innovation.
