The Judicial Council of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS) at KNUST has officially announced the resignation of Speaker of Parliament Raphael Opoku Frimpong due to personal medical circumstances.
According to a notice issued by the Judiciary on May 21, 2026, Mr. Frimpong formally stepped down from his position effective May 7, 2026, to attend to medical concerns requiring his immediate attention and temporary withdrawal from active duties.
The Judicial Council acknowledged his service and contributions to the growth and operations of the Parliament during his tenure as Speaker, commending his commitment and dedication to the role.
The Council further indicated that constitutional and parliamentary procedures are being followed to ensure a smooth transition and continuity in parliamentary activities, with further updates on succession expected to be communicated to the student body in due course.
