The University of Cape Coast (UCC) Hospital has once again been recognised for excellence, emerging as the Best Hospital in the Central Region for 2025 by the Central Regional Health Directorate.

This marks the second consecutive year the facility has secured the top regional award, further strengthening its reputation for quality healthcare delivery. The hospital also received a special commendation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Health Directorate in acknowledgement of its professionalism and outstanding service.

The awards were presented at the 2025 Central Regional Peer Review Awards ceremony, where the Regional Health Directorate highlighted the hospital’s consistent performance in annual assessments. According to the Director of Health Services, Dr. James Kojo Prah, the recognition reflects the dedication of staff and the systems in place to ensure effective healthcare delivery.

He noted that UCC Hospital has continued to distinguish itself over the years and expressed confidence in further improvements to meet the needs of both the university community and the general public.

Receiving the honours on behalf of the University, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, commended the hospital staff for their resilience and commitment despite increasing patient numbers. He described the achievement as a reflection of their professionalism and hard work.

Prof. Aheto also stressed the importance of continuous development, assuring that management remains committed to providing essential equipment and support to enhance healthcare services.

Present at the brief ceremony were the Registrar, Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye; Acting Director of Finance, George Amfo-Antiri; and other members of management and staff of UCC Health Services.
