The KNUST Nutrition and Sustainable Agri-Food Collaborative, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has expanded its Nkabom agribusiness training programme to Wenchi College of Agriculture and Applied Technology.
The 10-day initiative is training 60 participants in entrepreneurship, innovation and agribusiness development with the aim of transforming agriculture into a more sustainable and opportunity-driven sector.
The programme is designed to equip young people with practical skills across the agrifood value chain, combining business development, design thinking and technical training to support job creation and self-employment.
Participants say the training has reshaped their understanding of business, improving their confidence in communication, presentation and problem-solving while strengthening their entrepreneurial mindset.
According to trainees, the sessions have shown that successful business development requires planning, empathy and strategic thinking rather than just financial capital.
The Principal of Wenchi Agricultural College, Abdulai Mahamadu, described the programme as a timely intervention in addressing graduate unemployment and encouraging students to develop practical business ideas.
He noted that the training has also enhanced students’ teamwork and pitching skills and commended the organisers for supporting agricultural education and innovation.
