Scholarship Overview
The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has opened applications for its 2025/2026 Postgraduate Local Scholarship Scheme. The scholarship is targeted at Ghanaian students seeking to pursue Master’s and PhD programmes in accredited public tertiary institutions within Ghana. The scheme is aimed at supporting advanced human capital development by providing financial assistance to qualified applicants. Applications officially opened on Tuesday, 20th January 2026 and will close on Friday, 20th February 2026.
Eligibility & Requirements

Applicants must be Ghanaian nationals seeking admission or currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme in a recognised public tertiary institution in Ghana. All applicants are required to visit the official GETFund Scholarship Portal to complete an online application form. Applicants must accurately complete the online form and upload scanned copies of all required supporting documents for vetting and shortlisting. Applications will be assessed solely through the online portal, and only shortlisted applicants will be contacted after the vetting process is completed. All correspondence regarding the scholarship will be strictly between GETFund and the applicant. GETFund does not work with agents or intermediaries, and applicants are advised to report any individual or organisation claiming to act on behalf of GETFund to the nearest police station. Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in public tertiary institutions are not eligible under this scheme and are instead encouraged to apply through the Students Loan Trust Fund Government PWD Support Initiative.
