BD&SW Memorial Scholarship Program 2026

Source: UNEX | Posted:

Scholarship Overview

The BD&SW Memorial Scholarship Program was established in memory of Berenice Douglas and Suzanne Williams to support undergraduate students across Africa who are facing financial hardship but remain committed to completing their education. Due to the increasing number of applications, the 2026 application process has been revised to improve efficiency and ensure faster disbursement of funds. Selected applicants are required to provide school fee and account details at the time of application so that scholarship funds can be paid directly toward educational expenses. Funds must be used strictly for academic purposes such as tuition and approved school fees. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by May 1, 2026.

Eligibility & Requirements

Applicants must be undergraduate students studying in Africa who demonstrate genuine financial need and a strong commitment to completing their education. All applications must be fully completed, as incomplete submissions will not be reviewed. Applicants are required to submit a written essay of no more than two pages explaining their family background and financial situation, how they spend their time outside academic work, their personal and professional goals, formative life experiences, and why they require the scholarship. A current academic transcript or stamped statement of results (CGPA) from the previous academic year is required, except for Level 100 students who are exempt. Applicants must also submit two recent letters of recommendation from individuals who know them well and can provide insight into their character, background, and financial situation. Any form of collusion, forgery, or deception will result in disqualification.
