Internship Overview

The UN Women Internship Programme offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience in international development and gender equality work through placements at UN Women headquarters, regional offices, and country offices worldwide. Interns work under the supervision of experienced professionals and contribute to projects related to women’s rights, leadership, economic empowerment, and protection from violence. The programme provides exposure to the United Nations system and helps participants develop professional skills while gaining international work experience. Some internship positions may be remote or hybrid depending on the role and office location. Interested applicants are required to complete the online application form through the UN Women employment portal, provide all requested information and supporting documents, and submit their application before positions are filled.

Eligibility & Requirements

    Applicants must be enrolled in a master’s, post-master’s, doctorate, or final year bachelor’s degree program or must have graduated within the last two years. Applicants may also qualify if they are enrolled in a national service obligation or professional traineeship program that requires internship experience. Applicants must demonstrate strong interest in international development, gender equality, or related fields and must be able to provide proof of enrollment or graduation along with required recommendation letters and supporting documents. Applicants must complete all sections of the online application form as incomplete applications will not be considered.
