The Department of Sociology at the University of Ghana has launched its 75th anniversary celebrations under the theme “75 Years of Institutionalised Sociological Inquiry in Ghana.” The event brought together faculty, alumni, and students to honor the Department’s legacy in sociological research, teaching, and policy engagement.
Professor Joseph Awetori Yaro, representing the Vice-Chancellor, praised the Department’s contributions to academic excellence and societal development. Keynote speaker Professor Clara Korkor Fayorsey emphasized the need for locally relevant research to address current social issues and shape public policy.
The anniversary will feature events throughout June and July, concluding with a grand celebration in August 2025, aligning with the University’s broader goals of impactful research, student transformation, and national relevance.
