The University of Cape Coast (UCC) and the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) have pledged to collaborate on the development of the Cape Coast Metropolis, particularly in addressing sanitation challenges and urban planning.
During a courtesy visit by MCE George Justice Arthur and his delegation to UCC, he emphasized poor sanitation and faulty traffic lights as major concerns, and sought UCC’s technical support, especially in traffic light provision and waste management. He also announced plans for an 8-year development strategy and requested UCC’s expertise in its formulation.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong assured the Assembly of UCC’s commitment, proposing to provide technical assistance, including locally made rubbish bins and academic expertise for the development plan. Both parties expressed readiness to deepen collaboration on key developmental issues.
