UCC Law Student Wins Prestigious International Legal Writing Award
Halima Abena Kyerewah Adam, a third-year law student at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), has been awarded the 2025 Wohlmuth Award by Jurist News, a leading global legal news platform. She was recognized for her exceptional contributions to legal journalism and advocacy, becoming the first and only student from Ghana—and West Africa—writing for JURIST under a special agreement between UCC’s Faculty of Law and the platform.

Halima’s impactful articles on legal issues in Ghana and Africa have gained international attention. JURIST leaders praised her dedication and voice, while UCC’s Law Dean, Mrs. Julia Selman-Ayetey, celebrated the award as a significant achievement for both Halima and the institution, highlighting the global importance of Ghanaian legal scholarship.
