DigiVibe Launches At KNUST To Empower Young Women In Tech
The DigiVibe programme, launched at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, aims to empower young female graduates with digital skills, confidence, and support to succeed in Ghana’s digital economy. The initiative, supported by the AFOS Foundation, Women’s Haven Africa, WERise Network, and KNUST E-Learning Centre, addresses the Digital, Exposure, and Gender Gaps through upskilling, mentoring, consultancy, and job placement.

Key points:
- Objective: Equip women with tech skills (e.g., AI, data science, fintech) and foster innovation and resilience.
- Goals: Train 1,000 women in ICT and soft skills, place 400 in tech jobs, and engage 45 companies over two years.
- Support: KNUST provides infrastructure and virtual learning expertise; the programme is funded by the German Ministry via sequa.
- Focus: Beyond technical skills, it emphasizes mindset development and building a strong alumni network.
- Registration: Open to students, graduates, mentors, and businesses.

Leaders, including Professor Eric Appau Asante (KNUST E-Learning Centre), Adwoa Fosua Owusu Ofori (Women’s Haven Africa), Hanna Schlingman (AFOS Foundation), and Eunice Dewi Adjei (WERise Network), emphasized closing the gender gap in tech and empowering women as leaders in the digital space.
