School of Allied Health Sciences embarks on medical screening at Apewosika
As part of its 10th Anniversary celebrations, the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) at the University of Cape Coast organized a medical screening outreach for residents of the Apewosika community, in collaboration with the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences.
Under the theme “Promoting Community Health through Collaborative Allied Health Services,” the exercise aimed to promote preventive healthcare and raise awareness on the importance of regular medical checkups.
Services provided included screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, sickling status, and body composition, as well as eye exams, physical fitness tests, nutrition counseling, and sonographic checks. Health education talks and home exercise demonstrations were also conducted.
Dr. Stephen Anim, a member of the outreach team, emphasized the program’s role in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and noted that those needing further care would be referred to the UCC Hospital.
Assemblyman Jacob Kakra Ewusie praised the initiative and called for continued collaboration between the university and the community. The event saw strong community participation and was well received. Source https://ucc.edu.gh/news/school-allied-health-sciences-embarks-medical-screening-apewosika
